About one proportion z-test

The z-test for one-proportion is used to determine whether a sampling proportion differs significantly from a population proportion.

To use the One-Proportion Z-Test Calculator, enter the Sample Proportion (e.g., 0.1814 for 18.14%), Sample Size (e.g., 215), and Population Proportion (the hypothesized proportion for the population, e.g., 0.15 for 15%). Click Calculate to obtain the Z-Test statistic, Z-Test statistic (continuity corrected), Standard Error, P-value, and 95% Confidence Interval (CI). The p-value helps determine if the sample proportion significantly differs from the population proportion; a p-value below 0.05 indicates a significant difference. To reset all fields, click Reset all. The 95% CI provides a range where the true population proportion likely falls.

Note: The continuity correction for the z-test is particularly useful when the sample size is small.
